The Global Center for Autism Services (GCAS) is searching for Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), for our Lanham, MD location. The Global Center for Autism Services is a center-based, full-time applied behavior analysis (ABA) program located in Lanham, Maryland. CGAS has partnered with Cleveland Clinic Children’s Center for Autism (CCCCA), and operates a program that adheres to the principles and guidelines designed by the Cleveland Clinic intervention model. CCCCA has been operating an ABA program for children with autism for over 20 years, and has worked to assist other organizations in opening programs that mirror their model in 14 states throughout the country. GCAS is the newest CCCA program in operation in the region, and the first of its kind in Maryland.

This position is for Registered Behavior Technicians at our center-based, outpatient treatment center for children with autism. The patient age range is earliest diagnosis through the age of 12. The Registered Behavior Technician will be responsible for the full-time, daily implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) intervention programming for children diagnosed with autism at the center-based ABA outpatient clinic.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six months experience working as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with children with autism, utilizing the scientific principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA).

This is a full-time, 4/5 workday schedule (M-R/M-F) – some Friday hours may be required during time of employment. All interested candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for interview:

  • With current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification
  • With Associate degree or 2 years in college
  • Current National Provider Identifier (NPI) number preferred but not required
  • Six months experience working in clinical and/or home setting with young children with autism utilizing the methods of applied behavior analysis

Position Reports To: Executive Director GENERAL SUMMARY: The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the implementation of occupational therapy to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (to include early intervention through adolescent services) in a center-based setting for the Global Center for Autism Services (GCAS) in Lanham, Maryland. The Occupational Therapist duties include conducting new patient intakes, administering patient evaluations using the latest evidence-based practice, create intervention plans and direct treatment delivery to children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The Occupational Therapist will develop parent trainings, and integrate them into all treatment plans, providing strategies to parents to increase the effectiveness of treatment. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for recommending specialized equipment, environmental adaptations and access to assistive technology as needed. The Occupational Therapist will provide direct treatment to patients, and create progress reports for submission to patient insurance carriers. The Occupational Therapist will also work collaboratively with Clinical Director(s), Clinical Quality Director, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Speech & Language Pathologists, Director of Operations and Executive Director. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Familiarity with assessment tools including but not limited to: PDMS-2, Beery VMI, BDI2, SP, SPM, BOT-2,
HELP, DTVP-2, SIPT, and Vineland II preferred, but not required
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Sheets)
Required Length and Type of Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical experience in providing occupational therapy treatment, utilizing evidenced based practices for individuals with autism spectrum disorder
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry:
  • Licensed by the Maryland Department of Health
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy
Required Physical and Environmental Demands:
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting students, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination, physically able to manage students of varying weight and sizes. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Conduct initial intakes and parent conferences to gather relevant information.
  2. Develop & implement occupational therapy treatment, plans of care including goals and objectives.
  3. Address client’s occupational performance to support engagement in occupations (i.e., activities of daily living (ADL) across environments affecting health, well-being, safety and quality of life in a person with autism spectrum disorder.
  4. Create and perform task analyses to break down activities into achievable components for both the client and their family/caregivers.
  5. Guide and educate family members and caregivers during evaluation and treatment processes.
  6. Observe, note, and perform daily data collection, including creation of report on progress of long and short term treatment goals.
  7. Consult across disciplines to provide suggestions for environmental adaptations (i.e., board certified behavior analysts, speech & language pathologists).
  8. Provide direct treatment to patients, and create progress reports for submission to patient insurance carriers.
  9. Direct and supervise certified occupational therapy assistants (COTA) as needed in clinical setting.
  10. Assist the COTA and registered behavior technicians in treatment techniques that support progress towards patient treatment goals and objectives.
  11. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by Executive Director

Position Reports To: Coordinator of Speech & Language Services The Clinical Fellow - Speech & Language Services works under the supervision of the Coordinator of Speech & Language Services and the Executive Director of The Global Center for Autism Services (GCAS). The Clinical Fellow - Speech & Language Services, under the direction and guidance of the Coordinator of Speech & Language Services, administers evaluations; designs and carries out treatment plans and participates as a member of a treatment team to facilitate service delivery for patients in the center as well as in-home.   2. Assist Coordinator of Speech & Language Services in coordinating communication with referrals and outside agencies.
  3. Assist Coordinator of Speech & Language Services in educating all clinical ABA staff on communication topics including augmentative/alternative communication, apraxia, sign language and other related topics.
  4. Assist Coordinator of Speech & Language Services in providing consultation services to BCBA’s and Clinical ABA therapists in the area of speech and language development, assessment, intervention and individual program design.
  5. Ensure that all reports and documentation are completed thoroughly and within given deadlines.
  6. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

The Global Center for Autism Services (GCAS) has openings for a full-time, salaried Hybrid Visiting BCBA, comprising of 75% remote work, 25% in-person (1 week per month paid by GCAS) at our Lanham, MD location. A Master's degree or higher is required, currently certified as BCBA, experience and/or willingness to work with individuals with ASD ages earliest diagnosis through twelve years. Experience working remotely delivering real-time staff supervision and parent training in a virtual platform is preferred, but not required. Experience in conducting assessments including parent interviews and direct assessment with individuals as part of functional behavior assessment (FBA), VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, Vineland through remote delivery preferred, but not required. This full-time, salaried and benefitted position provides supervision of Registered Behavior Technicians, as well as oversee direct instruction of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder of varying ability levels; this includes parent training, one-on-one instruction and small group social skills training for young children with ASD, delivered in a virtual platform in real-time, with some in person intervention. The successful candidate will fulfill the following responsibilities remotely and in-person:
  • 75% of work will be completed remotely, 25% in-person (5 days on-site per month, all travel expenses paid by Company)
  • Supervise staff providing center-based ABA therapy to children ages 0-12 with autism
  • Collect, graph, and analyze data
  • Provide 1:1 supervision of RBTs implementing ABA therapy to patients
  • Conduct training with families and other caregivers
Requirements for the applicant, in addition to the ability to perform the above-listed responsibilities, include:
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • BCBA state licensed in Maryland, or credentials to obtain license
